Job Criteria »
In patient services • See patients in the wards, talk to patients and relatives. • Discuss the problems , investigations and plan of care of the patients with the doctors before ward rounds • Record progress notes and problem lists on the case files • Give instructions to patient about investigations and procedures • Ensure that the reports of investigations are made available to doctors when ward rounds are conducted. • Take part in ward rounds with the doctors and present cases • Facilitate interdepartmental consultations. • Provide medical certificate to patients (with approval of the doctors) when required. • Prepare discharge summaries and present to consultants. • Check the medications being taken by the patients • Enquire about diet and ensure dietary compliance. • Confirm whether patients have received vaccinations. • Help physicians in maintenance of medical records. • Assist doctor's for procedures Outpatient Services • Help physicians in all matters concerning the patient care. • Provide help to consultants in history taking • Facilitate interdepartmental consultations. • Provide medical certificates, if requested by patients (with the approval of the physician). • Assist doctor's for procedures. Teaching Activities • Take part in all the teaching activities of the specialty. • Help the physicians to conduct the teaching programs. • Teach nursing and technical students Research • Should actively involve in research activities of the department. Collect data, make data entry and process the data as instructed by physicians. • Help in preparation of research papers and articles for publications.
