Having the right candidate for your job position might be a bit of a struggle. There are plenty of qualified people that are looking for their dream job, but you need only the best one for the one you are offering. As an interviewer you need to ask the right questions in order to get the right answers from the future employee since you will have a candidate who will work in your company. Here are some of the best interview questions that you can ask the interviewee in order to get the needed answers to make your decision.
1. How do you imagine the perfect candidate for this job?
After starting with the introduction part of the candidate, the next part is to ask him/her of the image the job position you are offering. How the candidate sees that position and who would be the perfect one for that job? Regarding the answers of the candidate you can conclude whether is suitable or not for the job. Ask him/her about the skills and the education a perfect candidate should have in order to apply for this job, and if he/she said the answer you wanted to hear, and then you have found the perfect one.
2. What is your management style?
Asking about the management style of the candidate is also an important question. This way you can find out about the way the candidate is managing the things, the job, some assigned project, some activities, etc. Here you can get more information about the management skills of the candidate and how in different situations he/she got the best out of it. Managing some projects or activities speaks about the way of work of the candidate. If the final result always ended with success in every project, then this is the right candidate for your position.
3. What keeps you awake at night when it comes to work?
When the work is in question, you as interviewer must provide the needed information and determine whether the candidate in front of you is the right one or you are just wasting your time. By asking this question you will find out how much commitment and time the candidate spends on the work and how much important is actually the job to him/her. If the candidate says that he/she is spending a lot of night hours until some job is finished, then the candidate is the right one. If he/she says sleeping is more important in order to work better the next day and finish the tasks you couldn’t the previous day, then you might be wasting your time. Hard working candidate will always say “what you can finish today don’t leave it for tomorrow”.
4. What are difficult goals for you and how do you set them?
By asking what is a difficult goal for the candidate, speaks for his/her skills and the way the candidate is dealing with certain situations. If the candidate says a difficult goal is to get some higher position than the one you are offering, means the one you have in front of you is an ambitious person and will work very hard until achieves the goal. If the candidate says is satisfied with what he/she has, then less effort in the work will be done.
5. What were the relationships like with your previous bosses and coworkers?
Discovering about the previous relationships with the coworkers and bosses, you will get the needed information whether the candidate can deal well in some difficult situations and get along with problematic bosses or coworkers.
6. Which project brought the biggest accomplishments for your career?
Asking what project was the biggest peak in the candidate’s career will give you the information on how big or important job the candidate was performing before. If the project was some very important then the candidate that finished it with success can also perform the same way for your company.
7. What made you apply for this position?
Knowing the reasons for applying for the position that you are offering will show you how much interested the candidate is. If he/she gives good reasons and you got the answer you wanted to hear, then this is the perfect choice for you. But if the candidate says that applied for the job because is jobless or something else, then think twice and don’t give the chance to everyone to work in your company.
So, if you want to get the perfect candidate for your job position offer, you need to make sure that these questions are asked while the interview is being performed. These questions will give some impression of the candidate that is sitting in front of you.
