Besides the talking you will need to look adequately and be in a room where no one will disturb you. It doesn’t mean that you can do it in your bedroom where there are a lot of posters on the walls and a lot of items on the shelves, instead you can go in some library where is quiet or use some other options.
So, how can you prepare yourself when it comes to video and phone interviews? What can you do? How can you act? Here are some useful tips on preparing yourself for the upcoming interview.
1. Check the Internet connection
So, the time for the interview has come and you are not feeling prepared at all. This can be solved if you take care of few things. First of all, if it is a video interview you need to check the Internet connection and make sure that there will be no interruptions while the interviewing. It is really unpleasant experience if you are in the middle of your conversation and the connection gets lost.
So, before starting the interview make sure you have the needed technology and connection. If you are doing a phone Interview make sure that you have paid the bill, so no unpleasant experiences happen.
2. Choose the environment of the interview
The place you choose speaks a lot about your personality. You cannot do the video interview wherever you want. You cannot do it in the kitchen or in the bathroom for example, it is totally inappropriate and the interviewer will immediately know that you are not the adequate person for the job by that little detail. Make sure that you choose some appropriate place for doing the interview where no interruptions will happen.
Also if you are doing a phone interview make sure that no one is around or no one waits for you to finish talking because this might cause a pressure on you and end with a bad result.
3. Comfortable and appropriate dressing
You shouldn’t and mustn’t wear whatever you want. You need to dress properly and leave good first impression. We don’t say that you need to be in a tuxedo, it is enough to have nice and comfortable shirt that says that you are a serious candidate and great person. If you are doing phone interview the dressing here doesn’t make any difference.
4. Act accordingly to your speaking
This means that you will need to balance your talking and your facial expressions. If for example, let’s say that you are talking about something serious and you instantly start to smile or get angry. There is no need for this and you need to control your emotions. Of course you have to act politely and be nice, but that doesn’t mean that you will have to laugh loudly.
5. Be yourself and do not exaggerate
Prepare yourself to talk fluently and ask all of the interviewer’s questions the way you need it is appropriate. Always be yourself and do not lie or exaggerate in some of the things, because the employers will get the chance to see your skills in live, you will not have to prove yourself while the phone or the video interview. Avoid doing this.
6. Do some practice before
If you are someone who is not self-confident and makes a lot of mistakes during the interview, then it is recommendable to do some practice before the day of the interview comes. Open your laptop and practice answering some interview questions. This way you can see how fast you answer and what is the level of your language.
